2019 - The Story of Fying the ‘Flabob Express’ DC-3 from California to Europe for the 75th Anniversary of D-day and the 70th Anniversary of the Berlin Airlift

Pictured in the left seat (with his brother “Tym” in the right), Bob Tymczyszyn will tell the story of the preparation, execution and aftermath of flying an 80-year-old airplane on the adventure of his lifetime.

While attending UCLA, he flight-instructed on weekends and bush-flew in Alaska during summers. He was hired by “Flying Tigers” in 1978, the world’s largest cargo airline, flying DC-8s and 747s around the world. Eleven years later, Flying Tigers was bought by FedEx. Twenty-six years after that, Bob retired from 37 years of airline flying.

Prior to retirement, Bob started flying WW II-era DC-3s for the fun of it.
